Why This Tribulation?

July 29, 2018 by Darrel Current

Why This Tribulation?

Olivia Giordano (inspired by a sermon on the book of Job)

Why God? Tis my lament.

Why was this tribulation sent?

Cursed be the day I was born

I look on my life with scorn

I am in utter misery

Surrounded by adversity.

What have I done?

It is You who have begun

This endless suffering

I am languishing.

You are Almighty.

You set against me an army.

Why God? Leave me alone

Death is more welcoming than home.

I don’t understand

Why you reach out your hand

To ruin me.

I want to see.

I stand in awe of your majesty

Over all I see your sovereignty.

Can I begin to live again?

Who will you send?

I plead with you for a deliverer.

A Savior.

One who would cover my sins,

And the victory win.

One day, he will come.

The promised one.

I cannot stand.

So you hold me in your hand.

I wait until this life is past.

When I see your face at last.

You alone can save.

I know one day I will be raised.

For your glory

I will tell my story.

Of your works above,

These wondrous acts of love.

A poem saturated in Scripture, true to reality, and pointing to biblical and sure hope. Thank you, Olivia! I was edified.
