This Christmas season, I have been reminded of the true reason we celebrate Christmas. God has brought my family back to what Christmas is all about through a series of events.
Two of my aunts are sick and in the hospital. Because my aunt is sick, my mom drove to Atlanta to help her husband and be with her while she is in the hospital. My mom could have been back before Christmas, but the doctors can’t figure out what is wrong with my aunt, so my mom will stay with her until their mom arrives to help. God has removed two common aspects of Christmas from us. We can’t be with all our family because our mom is in Atlanta, and we can’t open our presents for the same reason.
All of this has brought us back to what Christmas is really about; the birth of Jesus Christ. Most people forget that this is even a part of Christmas, but now it is just about all we have left, so we are reminded that Christmas is not about presents, food, or even family so much as it is about the birth of our only savoir into this world. But not everyone needs to go through the things that my family has to be reminded of this. This Christmas, I challenge you to remember why you are celebrating this season, and to share this with your friends and family as well. Everyone ca use a reminder of why we are celebrating this season, so why shouldn’t we be the ones to remind them?

Amen, brother! Thank you for sharing that Darrel and pointing us back the real reason for the Christmas season, the incarnation and birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! It is truly amazing to think of this! Merry Christmas to you and yours!

You are so right! It is Christ Himself who is the best gift, the One that puts the joy and wonder and “magic” into everything we love about Christmas, and all year long. That the Mighty Ruler of the Universe would come down in humility and reside with us, love us, die for us, puts more meaning into every aspect of life than every other good thing in our lives put together!
